Thinking of You cards

Posted on: June 22, 2010

Two cards from an old SU Simply Sent set that I purchased used from a demonstrator found on Craiglist.  Since my set was used, it was missing the watercolor crayons that originally came with the set, so I improvised and used my now-trusty watercolor pencils to achieve the same effect (I think).  I loved the techniques – watercoloring, 2 step-stamping, and distressing the edges.

Unfortunately for me, the Simply Sent sets from the new 2011 catalog stink royally.  The cards are pretty much pre-made and so all you have to do is buy the stamp sets (separately) and stamp the image to the card.  Or you can add a few pre-made flower embellishments and stamp a sentiment.  Whoa…call the fun police – cause this is out of hand!

I prefer this kind of Simply Sent card kit.  What I really like about this set (and another from 2007 (?)) is that you get to try out new techniques.  It would’ve been really nice to have the stampin’ spots that came with these sets, along with the tools, but since mine were used I just had the stamp sets, ribbon, and cardstock.  Nonetheless, it made for fun card-crafting!

The purple card went to one of my girlfriends to celebrate her birthday, and the other to another friend’s mom, who was recently in an auto accident.  Yowsa!
